Juneyao Air Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner B-20EC departs Manchester Airport as flight HO1662 to Shanghai Pudong. The aircraft wears Juneyao’s distinctive “Oriental Ruby” special livery, making it one of the more striking members of the airline’s Dreamliner fleet. The clear conditions and vibrant scheme made this departure an ideal opportunity to capture one of Manchester’s most distinctive long-haul visitors.

Icelandair Boeing 757-200 - TF-FIA

Icelandair Boeing 757-200 TF-FIA departs Manchester Airport as flight FI441 to Reykjavík–Keflavík. The appearance of the 757 made this a particularly notable movement, bringing one of Icelandair’s classic narrow-body aircraft to Manchester on the regular Iceland service. Captured climbing away into clear skies, the distinctive dark Icelandair livery and unmistakable profile of the 757 make this one of the more unusual commercial movements in the gallery.

Hainan Airlines Airbus A330-900neo - B32MU

Hainan Airlines Airbus A330-900neo B-32MU departs Manchester Airport as flight HU754 to Beijing Capital. Carrying SPDB Leasing special markings, the aircraft’s distinctive red and yellow Hainan Airlines colours stand out against the clear blue sky. The climbing angle highlights the A330neo’s long wings and modern profile, capturing one of Manchester’s regular long-haul links with China.

Airbus A330-743L Beluga XL6 - F-GXLO

Airbus Beluga XL F-GXLO on final approach into Hawarden Airport, captured as it passed above the North Wales Coast railway line. The combination of the low aircraft, the railway curving through the foreground and the dark cloud cover in the background made this one of the most distinctive shots from the day. A brief break in the light caught the white fuselage perfectly, helping the Beluga stand out against the dramatic sky while the tracks naturally lead the eye through the frame towards the aircraft.

Jet Pitts G-JPIT – Southport Airshow 2026

The unmistakable blue Jet Pitts cuts across the dark, storm-filled sky during its aerobatic display at Southport Airshow. With a thick smoke trail pouring out behind and the aircraft banked hard through the manoeuvre, the contrast between the vivid blue airframe and the heavy cloud made for one of the most dramatic-looking moments of the day.

EasyJet Airbus A320neo, G-UZHW, on short final passing a visiting U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook, 15-08176,  as it approaches Liverpool John Lennon Airport. A seriously unusual bit of timing, catching both aircraft together in the same frame.

A duo of U.S. Army CH-47 Chinooks

U.S. Army CH-47F Chinooks, 15-08176 and 13-08133 taxiing towards the runway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport ahead of departure to Shannon, Ireland. The squad had arrived from Germany and made a refuelling stop at Liverpool before continuing west, making for a rare and seriously impressive site.

Lufthansa Boeing 747-430, D-ABVW, departing Manchester Airport on the 27th of September 2026. D-ABVW was dispatched to Manchester following the diversion of sister 747, D-ABVY, the previous day, allowing the passengers affected by the diversion to continue their journey from Frankfurt to Toronto.
